After the Rally..... | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Plans for after the rally were to head down to Los Algodones Mexico for dental work. I had only a minor problem that would take a visit to pull a tooth and a return appointment for my newly modified lower partial. Well it just so happened that John Flammang whom we had met at the rally had a bad toothache and he and wife Amy decided to accompany us to Mexico and get John put out of his misery. John & Amy had never been to Mexico for such so you can imagine their apprehension. The 95 mile trip south to Yuma brought us to our familiar parking spot just on the north side of Interstate 8 a few short miles inside California and a short hop from the Mexican Border.
As you can see we are not alone. Plenty of folks around to watch the rig when you're away and not to mention "Happy Hour " later in the day. We would use John & Amy's tow car to drive to the border, park in the US side parking lot and walk across.
As it was early afternoon when we arrived we decided to check out my Dentist and see when we could get in. True to form we were welcomed right in and shortly John was admitted for treatment. |

It was determined John needed a root canal and this was done immediately at an associate specialist just a short distance away. An assistant even drove him over there. Now John has had his share of root canals and if there was ever a happy patient after the fact, he was one... John had nothing but praise for the care and expertise of the dentist. I followed John in the dentist chair for an extraction. An impression was made for a new tooth on my lower partial that would be ready the next morning at 11:00 Am. Sure enough, next day it was ready. And a perfect fit! Total cost 65.00. |

The Mexican Dentists are a godsend for those of us who can't afford or are disgruntled with their American counterparts service... |

Our original plan had been to stay only long enough to complete John's and my own dental work. However, Judy and Amy decided that since we were here and things were going so well with John and I, to have their dental work done too. The next several days were spent with numerous appointments at the dentist office for the girls, shopping between visits, and best of all the Tacos! I think we sampled every kind of Taco in town. Best of all was the "Tacos Carnitas" conveniently located just across from the entrance to the dentists office. We also managed to find the best Margaritas in town in our wanderings....

All in all our Mexico trip with our new found friends was probably the most enjoyable vacation trip we have ever had. The weather was fantastic and the quaint Mexican town of Algodones was a pleasurable experience. The people are cordial and friendly and the American and Canadian folks that come down here for dental work, prescriptions and new glasses would astound you. Prices for such are 20 to 30% for the same in the states. Oh, I forgot to mention our whole crew got new glasses while we were there. Mine were 30.00 for prescription sunglasses.
The prescription was absolutely perfect and just the frames would have cost 90.00 at WalMart. Talk about a happy camper! To sum it up our experience in Mexico was the "BEST" For more on the Dentist to visit click on this link.
Heres a link to a GREAT! site to check out before a Mexico vivit or just pure enjoyment! LOTS of info here. |
